Digital Historian To Speak at William and Mary

Dan is Assistant Professor in the Department of History and Art History at George Mason University and the Director of the Center for History and New Media. The Center for History and New Media focuses on using digital media and computer technology to “democratize history—to incorporate multiple voices, reach diverse audiences, and encourage popular participation in presenting and preserving the past”. The Center sponsors dozens of history projects and offer free tools and resources for historians.
One of the most exciting projects is the development of Zotero, a free Firefox extension supports researchers in collecting, managing, and citing research sources. Zotero has been named one of the best free software applications of 2008, and just won Northwestern Universities’ Citefest in direct competition with Refworks, Endnote and CiteULike.
